I had one of these some while ago - it struck me as weird, so I sent an abrupt 'What about' response to the 'can I talk to you' request, just in case it was e.g. some legit query about some historical research issue I'd posted about that someone didn't feel was appropriate for comments, though it came off creepy - if it was a research issue why not ask up front - and never heard anything further. Okay to unscreen
