*Waves* at all the new people from
liv's Friending Meme!
I'm afraid I'm not a prolific poster, but at least I won't spam your reading page. ;-)
I live in the Brecon Beacons with my four kids and my husband of twelve years and am a SAHM, and struggle with how society wants to define me by those facts.
I'm a feminist, and in the last few years have started to educate myself in social justice and the intersecctions of oppression, many via the many discussions in Fandom, and viarious blogs the discussions have lead me to.
I've been in on-line Fandom since 1999 and on LJ since 2002, and joined Dreamwidth during closed beta. I volunteer on the anti-spam team, and can be found hanging out in IRC.
I'm passionate about feminist parenting, and parental rights, and one of these days I'm going to work out the issues surrounding childcare and train as a Doula. (This will also involve sorting our my issues with education, but one step at a time. ;-) )
I love Photography (see my previous post) and am crafty in various ways, but am jealous of people who can knit. (I used to be able to knit when I was child, I've lost the ability to since then). I produce a fanwork roughly once every 1.37 years, and have a couple of fanvids and some fanfiction to my name.
I'm dyslexic, and get self concious of my spelling, grammar and word choice, which is small reason why I'm so bad at replying to comments, but is more to do with the fact I'm the queen of procrastination. ;-)
I'm passionate about Dreamwidth and the community here, and am always happy to expand my reading list.

Date: Thu, Mar. 18th, 2010 10:17 pm (UTC)Being a Doula seems one of the ways in which I can help empower women to have the birth that works for them and their circumstances. My long term plan is to train and a Doula, do that for a couple of years and then train as an antenatal teacher and then do the two jobs in tandem. That's the plan, anyway.
It's just a case of working out the childcare aspects, something which will be slightly easier once the twins start school in September.
